Lemons

Lemons consist of Citric Acid around 5-6% percent per lemon, this means lemon has more acidity than a normal fruit. Lemons are natural skin astringents because of the acidic level they contain. The acidic effect on a person's skin is the cleansing of irritants from the skin hyperpigmentation closes pores and tightens the skin. Shrinking of pores leads to the cleansing of whiteheads and blackheads and overall the basic relief of acne. Face masks are a very popular method in skincare routine, a more natural and effective face mask should include lemons and honey because these are to be said to be the superfood for skin. Only a half of lemon and a spoon of natural honey mixed and applied to your face in liquid consistency can have great acne relief and also clear blackheads. Honey is a superfood for the skin because like the lemon honey contains acid, but honey contains more than one organic acid. Honey has acids like butanoic, acetic, formic, citric, succinic, lactic, malic and pyroglutamic acids. These acids accelerate shedding of dead skin cells without the need of mechanical rubbing which irritates the skin. Dead cells can stick to your skin surface, creating a rough skin surface. Honey is able to hydrate the skin by drawing water out of surrounding air and making itself a hydratable substance. Honey is full of minerals which can act to protect damaged skin.

Sea Salt

Sea salt is a natural skin care method because in sea salt the dead seas salt have a large magnesium component. The magnesium component of sea salt helps the inflammation of the skin. Sea salt itself helps hydrate and restore skin cells, it removes rough and dry skin and removes toxins from the pores. Sea salt is able to help the firmness of the skin, while getting rid of dry and rough skin. What people don't know is that a lot of cosmetic companies use sea salt in their product because when the sea salt gets rid of the rough and dry skin it gives the skin a shine making it look younger and provides optimal circulation which is very important to have a nice glow in the face. Psoriasis is a skin condition that visually shows red patches and scalp skin, the unpleasurable symptoms of this condition are itch and pain. There is no yet known cure for this condition but what is yet known is that sea salt, containing magnesium, helps with the inflammation swelling and itching. This condition is caused by the overweighting amount whiteblood cells in the body causing these outbreaks. Taking sea salt water externally and internally would be the most efficient procedure. Since sea salt contains magnesium and various minerals it can regulate the outbreaks from within and level the body's water amount. Generally sea salt has many benefits for the body and skin care but it is important to use natural sea salt instead of processed sea salt because processed sea salt lacks the amount of magnesium and minerals.

Zinc

Zinc is a chemical product that in skin care routine is used to help cure acne and skin wounds. “Zinc is a vital cofactor for the function of more than 10% of proteins encoded by the human genome. Zinc-dependent proteins play numerous indispensable roles within cells such as transcriptional regulation, DNA repair apoptosis metabolic processing extracellular matrix regulation and antioxidant defense.” Lin, Pei-Hui et al. “Zinc in Wound Healing Modulation.”. Zinc naturally is found in the body for tissue reproduction and the process of wound healing, some people have a zinc deficiency which is common. Zinc supplements support the growth of tissue in the wounds and reduces bacteria. Many wound creams contain zinc because zinc speeds up the process and reduces inflammation. With acne zinc is a good natural supplement because it can reduce bacteria and reduce inflammation in the areas affected. People with a lot of acne have lower blood levels than normal, direct ingestion of zinc has shown to help people with acne. Another fact about zinc is that zinc blocks how much copper is taking and increases the amount that is released. Overall zinc deficiency seems to be the problem and taking zinc supplements would solve a lot of problems, the strengthening of the immune system from zinc could help irritations and skin disorders externally.

Calendula

Calendula is a herbaceous plant in the daisy family, its medical use is skin inflammations the healing of wounds and a treatment for skin disorders. The anti inflammatory property of the calendula plant is oleanolic acid glycosides, the effects of the plant speed the healing of smaller wounds or burns. The plants herbs can postpone premature aging, the wrinkling in the skin gives the sense of aging, but delaying the process of wrinkling and giving the skin a glow can give a sense of looking younger. General external benefits include cell regeneration enhanced healing acne and anti aging. Chronic skin disorders can be treated with the calendula because of the assorted nutrients found inside the calendula plant, it decreases the effect of eczema, psoriasis and other chronic skin infections. The calendula plant has many beneficial properties for the skin, with the right amount of 3-5mg of the plant compressed with extra virgin olive oil in boiling hot water is the correct way of retrieving these nutrients from the plant.

Ectoin

Ectoine is a versatile and powerful ingredient that can significantly improve the performance of a wide range of products. Its unique protective and moisturizing properties make it a valuable addition to formulations in several industries:

Ectoin® is an amino acid, that is produced primarily by microorganisms in nature and serves to protect against heat, UV rays and high concentrations of salt.

Ectoin is the self-defense and survival substance of extremophilic microorganisms living in hostile environments such as deserts, salt lakes, arctic ice, the deep sea or hot springs.

A natural moisture binder that also protects the skin from the effects of UVA-induced cell damage Ectoin is a natural substance proven to prevent UVA-induced premature photoaging by inhibiting UVA-induced second messenger release (Source). According to a study published by Skin Pharmacology and Physiology in 2004, it was shown that Ectoin protects the skin from the effects of UVA-induced cell damage in a number of different ways. It was demonstrated that the UVA-induced second messenger release, transcription factor AP-2 activation, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 expression and mitochondrial DNA mutation could be prevented. The results obtained clearly demonstrate that Ectoin counteracts the effects of UVA-induced and accelerated skin aging at different cell levels.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera contains antioxidant vitamins A, C and E — plus vitamin B12, folic acid and choline. It contains eight enzymes, including aliiase, alkaline phosphatase, amylase, bradykinase, carboxypeptidase, catalase, cellulase, lipase and peroxidase. Minerals such as calcium, copper, selenium, chromium, manganese, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc are present in aloe vera. It soothes rashes and skin irritations, treats burns, heals cold sores and moisturizes hair and scalp.

Squalene

Squalene and squalane are used in skincare products as a highly-effective emollient and natural antioxidant. Historically, they’ve been used in the medical field to treat wounds and skin problems. Squalene and squalane both make great skin moisturizers. They’re natural emollients, so they lock moisture into your skin, help prevent fine lines, and ease dry patches. Anyone can use either version, but squalene is heavier, making it helpful for extra-dry or mature skin, while squalane is great for acne-prone or oily skin

Hyaluronic Acid

As we age, skin moisture can drop significantly, which makes the skin lose elasticity and expose the signs of aging on the skin. Hyaluronic acid plays a critical role in skin health with its unique ability to hold in moisture (1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid). Hyaluronic acid is also a “smart nutrient” as it can adjust its moisture absorption rate based on the humidity—relative to the season and the climate. Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid and UVB Sun Protection One of the most skin damaging elements are UVB rays from the sun. Hyaluronic acid benefits the skin as it protects the skin from UVB rays (and the scavenging reactive oxygen species they generate), which can cause sunspots.

Neroli

Neroli has rejuvenating and regenerating benefits for every skintype, its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties make it ideal for oily and blemished skin. Plus, it'll help maintain moisture levels and balance oily skin.

Volcanic Minerals

Volcanic minerals are high in Sulphur, an active mineral ingredient which not only helps the body to resist bacteria but actually destroy it. Sulphur exists in your hemoglobin and connective body tissue:

• to disinfect the blood
• stimulate bile secretion
• aid the oxidation reactions in the body
• protect the protoplasm of cells and
• for the synthesis of Collagen (one of the main proteins needed for the structural integrity of your skin).

Sulphur slows down the aging process because of its ability to protect against the toxic effects of pollution and radiation. It is part of the chemical structure of the amino acids glutathione, taurine, cysteine, and methionine.

Olive Oil

Olive Oil provides antioxidant protection. Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. Antioxidants, when topically applied, may help protect the skin from premature skin aging. Hydroxytyrosol, a rather rare compound found in olive oil, also prevents free radical damage to the skin.
